This Saturday October 5th, just like in Brooklyn, there will be a big march in more than 100 cities in the United States to demand immediate action towards immigration reform. A man born in Salamanca, Spain living in New York State, believed to be the oldest man in the world, passed away at the age of 112 years. The Guinness book of World Records reports that Salustiano Sánchez Blázquez died in a retirement home in Grand Island. He was born in El Tejado de Bajar (Salamanca) Spain and came to the United States through Ellis Island in 1920. He worked as a carbon miner and construction worker and he attributes his long life to a banana and 6 Anacin tablets. “Shorty”, as he was commonly known, passed away last Friday at 112 years old, according to the web announcement at the funeral home of M. J. Colucci and Sons.
